Welcome to CRYPTOQUOTE.COM.
I decided to put a little page about me and the website.
I discovered cryptoquotes circa 1964. My grandfather and I always had fun completing the crossword puzzle in Newsday and decided one day to try the cryptoquote, which was printed immediately below the daily crossword. Wonder of wonders, we became addicted. Grandpa has since passed away, but a few years ago I began dabbling in the internet. I found that cryptoquote.com was available and scooped it up. It took me a while to get my act together, but the site was finally launched on January 11, 2002.
I had some problems over the year and a half, including a period when I had no access to my site due to a mixup with the web hosting company. All that has been ironed out and I've been able to post new puzzles with little interruption since December.
I try to select puzzles that I feel are not too easy, yet not impossible to solve. I guess no cryptoquote is really impossible, since there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. Keep at it long enough, and any puzzle can be solved.
I have kept my site as "low tech" as possible. I know I may have lost a few potential visitors, but I've received a lot of feedback from users who enjoy the fact that the puzzles can be printed out and solved the old-fashioned way, with a pencil.
